Haiti Earthquake - How Easy It Is to Forget

I heard about the Haiti earthquake last night, shortly after it was first reported. I looked at the text, from my friend, and thought, "Wow. 7.0. That's pretty big". Then I got distracted, and as it was in Haiti and it didn't affect me I completely forgot about it.

I woke up today and read over 100k dead. I felt bad for awhile. I wanted to help out. Then I went about my normal day and proceeded to think of myself and my "business". My work day overall sucked and I remember thinking how bad of a day I had had...

Over Thanksgiving, a friend asked me what makes me want to give back or donate (something like that). I thought about it for awhile and replied," Natural disasters.". There is something about the complete loss of control over one's fate that really pains me. Anyways, there is so much we can do on a daily basis to help our fellow "man". I know I do virtually nothing. Three days ago, I gave a homeless man $5. I don't know why. Today, I will be contributing via my job to the relief efforts for the Haitians. I hope others will too.
