Nutcracker-->Black Swan-->Black Sean

We went to go see The Nutcracker two days before Christmas. The Nutcracker and Swan Lake (which I had seen before) really don't have a lot in common with The Black Swan. I kept finding myself wishing for a surprise scene stealing performance by Natalie Portman/Mila Kunis.
Surprisingly, in The Nutcracker, the King of The Snow was played by Anthony Spaulding (aka Black Sean). A friend of mine replied to my FB status update that he loved Black Sean. My FB Status Update -"Just saw the Nutcracker. I think we can all agree that it would have been much better with a few "special" dream sequences of Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis."

I interpreted my friend's response to mean that he loved Anthony Spaulding's performance. When in fact he had been drinking a little and mispelled Black Swan to Black Sean! Whoops!!!

Daji Adventures - Graduation!

Daji is now 15 weeks old and the little guy sure aint so little anymore. His most recent accomplishments include graduating Puppy Kindergarten, no longer messing in his crate, being able to leap onto the bed all by himself, learning how to lay down on command, finding his red rocket, discovering he really likes Kara's leg, and managing to not kill George The Third! Daji also has discovered that he has the most amazing Tias (Annie Freccero and Kendra Krupansky)!!! Thanks Aunties for taking care of our little boy.

Starting the second Sunday after we got him we decided to try and track his growth. The pencil on the wall idea didn't go so well. But, for some reason, the picture next to the Dresser/TV Stand really took hold. The pics below detail his amazing growth Sunday by Sunday by Sunday.

Daji Adventures - Discovered!

http://dogsofsf.com/

Kara's litmus test for deciding if someone can be trusted or not is the puppy test. If you don't like puppies and/or can walk by a puppy without wanting to take it home with you then you're suspect. After seeing the website "Dogs of SF" I would have to agree with her.

Daji is the featured pup for today (8-2-10). I thought I would have to wait until I had kids to have a meal ticket. It looks like Daji has that certain je ne sais quoi and I won't have to wait that long! I mean seriously, how could anyone resist this face?!

Daji Adventures - Part II

Daji turned 11 weeks old today. The nut that he is, he decided to stay up all night and into his birthday morning, spend the day at the vet and somehow still gained weight while expelling everything he ate & drank through every orifice imaginable. Suffice it to say, "HAPPY (11 weeks) BIRTHDAY Daji!" You now know how much your mom and dad love you.

Two weeks in and the pup has been 20lbs of fun and memorable moments. Unfortunately, he got sick shortly after his 2nd vaccinations on Tuesday. The second vet Kara & I took him to (Marina Pet Hospital administered the first vaccination but will no longer be his primary vet...) doesn't think it was an allergic reaction but also couldn't rule it out. So far, Daji is responding well to his treatment (pedialite & chicken broth, intestinal anti-inflammatories, and a "no-vomit" shot) and looks like he'll be back to his "cutest puppy ever" normal self shortly. If anyone is looking for a really good veterinarian I would highly recommend Redwood Pet Clinic.

I saw this picture on the wall at Daji's new Vet. I wanted to include it here since it accurately describes our casa.

Daji Adventures - Part I

San Francisco meet Daji! Daji is our new 9 week old Rhodesian Ridgeback. RR's were originally born/used to hunt lions. With the growing lion population in SF we wanted to do our part and help keep the city safe. Daji's temperament thus far is 85% mellow (with a capital M) and 15% Scooby on Scooby Snacks.

We had our first misadventure today; Daji decided to outwit us during our first attempt to leave him home alone. We set up the kitchen to be his home while we were away from home, complete with a dog gate, toys, water, and his crate. What we didn't realize was that our little puppy was also a magician. We came home to a puppy greeting us on the couch, a dog gate seemingly untouched, and 1 destroyed sweater (Kara's). The score is Daji 1 - K&D 0. We're looking forward to all of our next adventures together!

Bay to Breakers 2010

My B2B was originally supposed to be ran somewhere under 42 or 43 minutes. Throw in a few injuries, not enough long runs, and mix in the allure of watching floats instead of trying to beat them to the finish and you have the picture collage below. If you've never had the opportunity to experience B2B mark it on your calendar to attend next year. The pictures have been edited to protect the innocent. ;-)

Haiti Earthquake - How Easy It Is to Forget

I heard about the Haiti earthquake last night, shortly after it was first reported. I looked at the text, from my friend, and thought, "Wow. 7.0. That's pretty big". Then I got distracted, and as it was in Haiti and it didn't affect me I completely forgot about it.

I woke up today and read over 100k dead. I felt bad for awhile. I wanted to help out. Then I went about my normal day and proceeded to think of myself and my "business". My work day overall sucked and I remember thinking how bad of a day I had had...

Over Thanksgiving, a friend asked me what makes me want to give back or donate (something like that). I thought about it for awhile and replied," Natural disasters.". There is something about the complete loss of control over one's fate that really pains me. Anyways, there is so much we can do on a daily basis to help our fellow "man". I know I do virtually nothing. Three days ago, I gave a homeless man $5. I don't know why. Today, I will be contributing via my job to the relief efforts for the Haitians. I hope others will too.
